The Pella High cross country team had 22 seniors combined on the boys’ and girls’ teams. Only seven runners get designated as “varsity” at each meet, so some seniors did not always race at the varsity level. Every single one of them did play a role in the entire team chemistry, says Coach Doug Cutler, and all 22 of them, and their families, will be missed when they graduate in the spring. Though they will be losing quite a bit of talent, Coach Cutler and his staff will also be welcoming back a lot, too, including freshman Tess Roorda who was the overall girls’ champion in Class 3A in Fort Dodge at the state meet.
