Eric Karr, head coach of the PCM cross country team, accomplished one of his goals in the 2013 season: getting a runner to the state meet in Fort Dodge. Rachel Stafford help him achieve that goal and she finished 61st out 122 runners. The whole point of getting a runner to state this year for Karr was to try to build the program up for the future. Karr says he wants his team to get to the point that they “expect” to go to state each year. The Mustangs’ coach says he tries to build positive excitement for the program at a young age. Karr tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that they do a kids’ fun run at their home meet each season. He explains that all of the “young-ins” who participate get a ribbon and it helps draw publicity to PCM cross country. The Mustangs will return a good core of runners when the 2014 season begins next year.
