Knoxville City Council Meeting Last Night

Knoxville’s City Council held their regular meeting last night. Mayor Don Zoutte officiated the swearing-in of new poliice officer Joel Kimpston-Burkgren to begin the evening. Other items on the agenda included the rezoning of a property on Willett’s Drive, and one on S. Roche, both passed. The Council approved a site plan proposal for commercial redevelopment project at 318 N. Lincoln, which is the old Kum N Go building. Other items approved included sewer repair work at South, Jefferson and Streeter streets and an agreement between the City of Knoxville and Peacetree Brewing Company, regarding a sewer rebate or discount. The final item was a recommendation by City Manager Harold Stewart to cancel a contract with ECivis, for grant management software. There is a $2500 fee to cancel, but the software has not produced any results. Council agreed to cancel the contract.
