About the only way to earn a spot on a varsity cross-country squad is to get below a certain time the coach prescribes. However, Knoxville Coach Mike Moats tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that his team had to work doubly hard in their years especially the senior class. They were freshmen when the Panthers finished runner up at the state meet four years ago, and to say the least their confidence was not exactly sky high. However Moats says their hard work and willingness to sacrifice for the good of the team paid off. He adds he has a strong group coming back next season and hopes to start a new streak of state meet appearances.
