Pella High’s football team in 2013 dealt with a lot of youth, and a lot of talented youth at that. Noah Clayberg, the quarterback for the majority of the season, is only a sophomore, as is Nathan Henry, the team’s second-leading rusher. Seth Johnson, Trevor Argo, Quinton Murphy and Garret Jansen will all be back as seniors next year. One thing this year’s group of seniors did with this young squad was to make every player, starter or non-starter, feel like they were a part of the team. Coach Jay McKinstrey mentioned that several parents of the players told him that the seniors made everyone feel welcome. He adds it meant a lot to the younger players to be a part of the group and the team, and thanks this year’s seniors for doing exactly that and carrying on the tradition that Pella High football brings to the gridiron each season. The Little Dutch lose 16 seniors off their varsity squad.
