A Cedar Rapids man was injured Saturday by a self-inflicted gunshot wound while deer hunting in Marion County. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News that 37 year old Charles T. Nolte was hit in the kneecap when his shotgun discharged while he was putting on his gloves. The incident happened southwest of Melcher-Dallas Saturday afternoon. Melcher-Dallas fire and rescue responded to the scene, and transported Nolte to Mercy Medical Center where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Sheriff Sandholdt encourages all hunters to be cautious as second shotgun season continues.
