Despite 24 total turnovers, the Central men’s basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Bridgewater College out of Virginia on Saturday, 67 – 54. The Dutch shot 36% from the field in the first 20 minutes, but followed that up with a 55% barrage in the final 20 to extend their slim one-point halftime lead. Four Central players found double figures, led by Matt Greenfield who had 17, Nile Eckermann had 15 and both Kevin Kaerwer and Fred Pratt each threw in ten. The Dutch women were stifled by a ranked Fairleigh Dickinson squad, 53 – 37. Central shot just under 30% for the game, and both teams struggled in the second half, combining for just 38 points. Kenzie Vander Molen led all Central scorers with 13 points. The men are now 6 – 4 while the women fall to 7 – 3. Both teams are back in action tonight against a pair of local Puerto Rico squads.
