Newcomers to the Little Hawkeye Conference, Dallas Center-Grimes play host to a pair of state basketball tournament teams from last season in Pella Christian tonight. The Eagles have had a shaky week of basketball; the boys had as much as a 15-point advantage over West Marshall in the second half, but had to withstand a late run and a last-second miss by the Trojans to hold on for a 52 – 50 win in their opener on Monday. Coach Larry Hessing wants to see his team take better care of the ball tonight, as the Mustangs will be a nice measuring stick for his team early on in the season. The lady Eagles fell to Eddyville-Blakesburg on Tuesday for their first loss of the year, and they, too, are looking to take better care of the ball after turning it over 34 times in that contest. You can hear tonight’s doubleheader live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at with Cory Houser and Wynne Veenstra on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage starts immediately after Focus on the Family at 6:00 p.m. with tip-off of the girls’ game shortly after.
