Finishing the first one-third-plus of their schedule with a 4 – 5 mark, Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team is still trying to find their identity on the court. The Eagles have shown their strengths; a 59 – 48 win over Martensdale – St. Mary’s, and a slim three point victory over Albia. However, they have stumbled at times, with close losses to Eddyville-Blakesburg, PCM and Newton. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says during their practices leading up to the second part of their schedule next week, he would like to see the girls find themselves individually and who they are as a whole. Their tough schedule doesn’t let up when 2014 comes around; the Eagles must play Pella, Norwalk, Knoxville and Grinnell in their first four contests.
