Knoxville School Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says that the Knoxville School District must decide for the 2014-2015 year if they are going to base their calendar on hours or days. He says an hours-based calendar offers more flexibility than if it is based on days. He says this is because the current calendar already provides many more hours than the minimum requirement, so if there is an early out or late start, completed hours can still count toward the completion of the year. Dr. Flack said he thinks the district will stay with an hours-based calendar. The calendar will be approved at the next school board meeting on January 20.
