Dallas Center-Grimes put both of Pella Christian’s basketball teams in early holes they couldn’t climb out of in doubleheader action Friday night. The Eagles’ girls fell to the Fillies, 57 – 29. The first eight minutes went by and Pella Christian looked up to find themselves down 16 – 1. Tessa Howerzyl finished with 17 points leading the Eagles’ in scoring. In the boys’ game, the Mustangs won 69 – 43 in a foul-filled contest. Over 40 fouls were called on the two teams combined, and many of the game’s starters found themselves in foul trouble early. Coach Larry Hessing says that with the new foul emphasis, all coaches, players and even referees need time to adjust. Coltin Collins had 12 points to lead the way for Pella Christian’s boys, who fall to 1 – 1 on the season, the girls are 2 – 2, and they are each in action today; the girls host Roland-Story, and the boys head to Washington to play the Demons.
