In very convincing fashion, the Pella High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams defeated Carlisle last night in doubleheader action. The Lady Dutch won 74 – 41 after getting out to a 22 – 8 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Four Pella girls found double figures in the points column, led by Jessica Holterhaus with 16, Morgan Terpstra had 14, Mackenzie Gustafson dropped in 12 and Marissa Borgerding scored 11. The Wildcats gave Pella a late scare in the third quarter, but ended up being no match for the Little Dutch, who breezed to a 77 – 52 win in their contest. Isaac Naaktgeboren had a double-double in the first half, and finished with 25 points and ten rebounds to lead all scorers. Coach Mark Core says having the offense run through Naaktgeboren was a big key to their victory. The girls are now 2 – 0 while the boys are 1 – 0, and they’ll each look to keep the good times rolling this Friday in Oskaloosa against the Indians.
