His high school career at Pella started at the UNI-Dome, and it’s going to finish there, too. Pella High senior, Nathan Clayberg was selected to represent the Dutch in the annual Shrine Bowl football game this summer in Cedar Falls. Little Dutch head football coach, Jay McKinstrey, says that given what guidelines the coaches follow to nominate and select players for the Shrine Bowl, Clayberg was easily a perfect fit. To add the proverbial cherry on top, Coach McKinstrey will also be the head coach of the South team that Clayberg is on, and he says it’s very humbling to be chosen to lead such a talented group of players in such a special game. This year marks the 42nd year the Shrine Bowl will be played, and the event has raised well over $2 million for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The game takes place at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Saturday, July 26.
