The Marion County Sheriff’s Department tells KNIA KRLS News that roads in the county may be up to 50% snow and ice covered and slick. The Iowa Department of Transportation reports that roads are partially covered between Marion County and Des Moines. State, county and city plows are in operation. The Knoxville Snow Ordinance is in effect. While in force, parking is prohibited on all City streets. Any vehicle found parked on a street may be cited and towed. It will remain in effect until streets have been cleared curb to curb. Officials urge travelers to please drive with caution, and leave plenty of room between your car and the one in front of you. Take extra time to get to your destination this morning, and give our road crews and first responders sufficient room to work. The one to count on for the most up-to date road and travel information is KNIA KRLS.
