Dallas Center-Grimes’ first ever trip to Pella Christian for Little Hawkeye Conference play was forgettable for the home Eagles, as both the boys and girls were unable to keep up for a full 32 minutes. The girls’ squad trailed only 10-7 in the first quarter, but couldn’t get any closer. Tessa Howerzyl carried the offensive load for the Eagles with 22 points. DCG improved to 12-2 overall with the 58-45 victory, while Pella Christian fell to 6-9. The boys’ game started in similar fashion but finished with a lopsided 78 – 45 victory for the Mustangs. Eight Eagles scored, led by 13 points from sophomore Sebastian Baugh. Coach Larry Hessing talks about his team’s effort. The loss drops Pella Christian to 6-9 with six conference games remaining. The guys and girls will both try to rebound on the road Tuesday at Newton.
