The PCM girls’ basketball team gave a Top-10 ranked Nevada squad a scare, but the Cubs hung on to win, 49 – 46. The Mustangs were up by eight at the half, and pushed that lead to 13 early on in the third, but that’s where the wheels came off, said head coach, Bret Grier. He tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that his ladies were forcing up quick, tough shots on their end that would not go down. Courtney VanHouweling led PCM in scoring with 15 points, Abbi Gilson had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, and newcomer Rachel Freland added ten points of her own. The PCM boys stayed undefeated with a 65 – 46 win over the Cubs. Logan Gillman led the charge for his team with 21 points. PCM’s girls fall to 6 – 5 and the boys are 9 – 0. Both teams are back in action tonight at Gilbert, and you can hear that doubleheader live on KNIAKRLS.com with Kris Krug and Rick Gilson covering the play-by-play. Pregame starts at 5:45 p.m. and the girls will tip-off at six.
