Both teams ending up in the same region or district in the postseason, Pella High and Grinnell’s “ballers” will lace up the sneakers for a final time against one another in the regular season tonight in the Tulip City. The Lady Dutch did not shoot the ball particularly well when they played the Tigers the first time, but a long time has passed since their last confrontation, and Pella has been scoring almost at-will. As heard during this past Wednesday’s “Marion County PM Sports Page” on KNIA and KRLS, junior Morgan Terpstra says she has a unique mindset heading into tonight.
“I would have to say that they stole our bike, and we have to get it back,” Terpstra said. “You know how Muhammad Ali goes into the match and he stares at his opponent and is like, ‘Dude, you took my bike.’ So, Grinnell took our bike.”
Grinnell’s boys have losses to Mount Vernon, Williamsburg and Chariton this year, and barely beat Knoxville last week. Coach Mark Core says that the Tigers will come ready to play. Justin Webster and Randy Sikkema will be live on KNIAKRLS.com with the call. Pregame starts at six, and there will be a delayed broadcast of the doubleheader on 92.1 KRLS after Pella Christian basketball.
