Wrapping up their 15th game of the season on Tuesday with a loss to Dallas Center-Grimes, the Pella High boys’ basketball team still finished strong in games five through 15 with a mark of 9 – 2. That record is significant, because the boys’ association uses that time frame to determine the ranking of teams within each district in the postseason. Regardless if the Little Dutch had won on Tuesday, they were going to be the number one seed in their district, because Grinnell, who was their closest competition, had three losses already in that same time period. Even with a number one seed wrapped up, Coach Mark Core says his team is still just focused on the future rather than the past. Pella is 12 – 3 on the season and their next stop “ahead” is Grinnell tomorrow night.
