Sen. Chuck Grassley Says Balance Is Key For NSA Policy

When asked about changes to the current NSA policy, and if it will be an ongoing issue that requires persistent monitoring, Senator Charles Grassley tells KNIA KRLS News that there are some Republicans and Democrats that think the program should be done away with entirely. He says President Obama indicates the program should be saved, but needs changes. Grassley says a balance must be struck between federal government’s constitutional responsibility to provide for national security and to preserve the privacy of individuals under the 4th amendment. He doesn’t believe privacy has been violated and says the government is not listening to phone calls, but most people don’t understand that. He says balance must be achieved, and must be coupled with transparency without sacrificing national security and privacy.
