Rachel Evans flirted with a quadruple-double, and the Central women’s basketball team ended a four-plus week drought by defeating Buena Vista on Wednesday night, 81 – 63. Four Central starters finished in double figures, led by Kenzie Vander Molen who scored 24, Courtney Kelderman went 5-for-10 from long range to score 17, and Jessy Stika had 12. Evans’ final line was 14 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and seven steals, and she even added a block for good measure. The men scored 57 first half points and had three players score more than 20 points on the way to a 92 – 78 win over the Beavers. Matt Greenfield had 24 points, Colby Taylor punched in 22 and Kevin Kaerwer had 21 for the Dutch, who are now 16 – 6 overall and 9 – 2 in the Iowa Conference. The women improve to 10 – 12 and 2 – 9 in the league. They each head to Dubuque on Saturday for a big doubleheader with the Spartans.
