One reason Central’s men are where they are is from talented youth and the experience and leadership from their upperclassmen. One freshman that has shined since the get-go is Colby Taylor. He is averaging over nine points per game, third best on the team, and had two career highs in their win on Wednesday; the freshman scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Luther. Coach Craig Douma says Taylor’s development over the course of the year shocked the entire coaching staff. Taylor’s play this last week earned him Iowa Conference male athlete of the week honors. He and the rest of the Dutch men are prepping for this Thursday’s Iowa Conference tournament semifinal where they will play the victor of Buena Vista or Wartburg, which takes place tonight.
