With the substate final being held in Ottumwa again, the Pella Christian boys’ basketball team has an opportunity tonight to play there for a second straight year if they can get by Albia in Oskaloosa. Both schools were involved in close games in their district semifinals on Saturday; the Eagles edged PCM 54 – 51 and the Blue Demons came back from a double-digit deficit late to beat Davis County 62 – 60. Albia started the season 10 – 1 but finished the regular season 4 – 6, including a loss to a five-win Knoxville squad. Coach Larry Hessing says that though his Eagles don’t have the most eye-popping record from the remaining teams, they are still dangerous. Tonight’s district final can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com. Cory Houser and Wynne Veenstra will call it for you. Pregame starts at 6:30 p.m. with tip-off scheduled for seven.
