Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team made their free throws while Norwalk couldn’t, which led the Eagles to a victory over the host Warriors, 40 – 28 last night. The Eagles went 15-for-18 at the line while Norwalk shot just 4-of-15. Coach Kevin Van Maanen said after the game he thought his team did everything better last night. Brooke Mitrisin and Lauren Jungling scored ten points apiece to lead all scorers on the court. Pella Christian’s boys fell behind by 11 in the second half, got to within one, but had some bad breaks not go their way in a 59 – 52 loss. Grant Wright was unstoppable, scoring a game-high 21 points, while Levi Jungling led the way for the Eagles with 11. The win improves the Eagles’ girls’ record to 8 – 10 while the boys drop to 7 – 11. Pella Christian comes home for senior night to host Knoxville on Tuesday.
