This afternoon, the Central basketball programs will say goodbye to some very talented seniors that have helped open up eyes around the Iowa Conference. The Dutch host Wartburg in the regular and conference season finale inside in the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. The first 50 students through the doors for both games get a free t-shirt to help celebrate the men’s basketball triumphs so far this season. Central’s women have had their own victories throughout the season they can be proud of: they got off to the hottest start in program history (6 – 0), and with their victory over Luther on Wednesday, recorded their most wins in a season (11) since the 2003-04 year. A win today, plus some luck, could give the Dutch a berth in the conference tourney. The men are already there and are the number one seed after having clinched their 17th league title in men’s basketball in program history and they are the first school in the history of the Iowa Conference to go from last place a year ago to first place the following season. Today’s conference finale doubleheader tips off at 2:00 p.m.
