It was slow going for both Pella Christian and Knoxville’s girls’ basketball teams on Tuesday, but then Lauren Jungling went off for 16 of her 21 points in the first half to help her Eagles win 54 – 41 on senior night. The key moment in the ballgame was the first 5:30 of the second quarter, when the Eagles went on an 18 – 0 run to seize control. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says that their second quarter outburst was a long time coming. Tessa Howerzyl had 11 and Autumn Vos had ten for the Eagles, while Emily Wallace and Ricki Hall each dumped in 11 to lead the way for Knoxville. The Eagles and Panthers are each 9 – 11 and they’ll conclude their regular seasons on Friday; Pella Christian heads to Grinnell and Knoxville goes to Dallas Center-Grimes.
