The Knoxville Boys Basketball took out Centerville last night in the opening round of the class 3A District 82-74. The Panthers lead most of the way and played aggressive on offense getting driving layups coupled with good outside shooting. Knoxville trailed 55-52 going into the fourth quarter after the Big Reds took the lead courtesy of an 11-2 run. Knoxville then started the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run to grab the lead, and with the exception of one more tie at 63 with four minutes left, the Panthers finished the game outscoring Centerville 19-11. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS after falling behind in the third quarter, they got back in front and made some huge plays. Gerrit Davis led four Panthers in double figures with 20 points, Bryce Zoutte had 17 including 12 in the second half and eight-for-eight in the fourth quarter from the free throw line. Knoxville improves to 6-16 on the season and will play Chariton for the third time this season in Albia Thursday night for the District championship.
