Drought Monitor 2-11

The recently released U.S. Drought Monitor is finally showing some stability. After holding steady for most of November and December, a large section of the state fell back into the abnormally dry category during January. The drought summary for this week also says that light to moderate snows in the area with a liquid equivalent of 0.3 to 0.7 inches, have been producing smaller percentages than normal. Marion, Mahaska, Jasper, most of Warren, and over half of Polk county all remain in the severe drought category.
