Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to a post-recession low of 4.2 percent in December from a revised November rate of 4.3 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate for December dropped to 6.7 percent from 7.0 percent in November, as more people left the labor force. Locally in Marion County the numbers were positive considering the number technically rose. The rate for December was 4%, up from 3.6% in November, but steady with the 4% we saw in pre holiday season October.
