In a game that lived up to its billing, Pella Christian controlled the tempo and made plays down the stretch to knock off P-C-M last night in the class 2A boys district semi-final 54-51. The Mustangs threatened to make it a blowout early getting up 11-2, but Pella Christian called a time out with 1:58 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles ended the first period on a quick 5-2 burst and only trailed the Mustangs by four at the half. Coach Larry Hessing told KNIA/KRLS that time out was key to the rest of the game. Freshman Levi Jungling led the Eagles with 19 points including clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win. On the other side, P-C-M Coach Fred Lorensen said his team just did not do what they needed to do to win. Dillon Bruxvoort led the Mustangs with 24 points. P-C-M was outrebounded 37-26, however the Mustangs claimed eight offensive rebounds. P-C-M finishes its season at 17-5 while Pella Christian improves to 10-13 and will advance to the District title game Tuesday night in Oskaloosa against Albia who rallied from a ten point deficit to beat Davis County 62-60.
