The Pella boys’ and girls’ basketball teams hosted two tough opponents Friday night when Grinnell came to town. The girls jumped out to an eight point lead, and rode that momentum to a 53-37 victory over the Tigers. Head Coach Jerod Garland praises his team’s focus in both the victory, and throughout the season. The win improves Pella to 11-6 on the season. The boys’ game was just as impressive even though the margin wasn’t. Pella fought hard the whole way and refused to relinquish the lead in the final minutes. An offensive oddity occurred when three different Dutch ballers tallied 20+ points with Bryce Bortscheller, Jordan Pingel, and Isaac Naakgteboren scoed 20, 23, and 24 respectively in Pella’s 76-72 victory, which improves their record to 13-3. Up next is the Tuesday night showdown with crosstown competitor Pella Christian.
