After a successful Thursday that saw most of our local wrestlers in Class 2A and 3A advance in some capacity in the brackets, Friday was the polar opposite, as all of our grapplers were eliminated in their respective weight classes. For Knoxville, Kieran Robuck at 138 was defeated by Cody Naber of Beckman Catholic in the second round of the winner’s bracket, 4 – 3, and lost by fall to Christian Fox of Osage at 1:28 in the consolation bracket. Levi Azinger and Chase Petty of Pella each lost in close competitions in the winner’s and consolation brackets. Petty lost to Bryce Meyer of Fort Madison 10 – 5 then to Jack Koethe of West Des Moines Valley 3 – 1. Azinger started strong versus Keegan Shaw of Southeast Polk, but came up short 14 – 9 to drop to the consolation bracket, where he dropped a 3 – 2 decision to Austin Hosch of Epworth, Western Dubuque. PCM’s Tristan Clark at 126 could not overcome an early deficit to Zach Underhill and lost his bout 7 – 4.
