At approximately 7:15 this morning, icy road conditions contributed to a one-vehicle accident north of Attica, at the intersection of Highway 5 and Poplar. Indiana Township Fire Chief Mike Legvold tells KNIA/KRLS News that the Chevy Suburban was northbound on Highway 5 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, went across the southbound ditch, into a field, and came to rest by a tree. The airbag deployed and mechanical means had to be used to extract the driver of the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics by Knoxville Rescue. The Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. Legvold thanks all of the agencies involved for their quick and valuable response. The condition of the driver has not been released.
