Drought Monitor 2-11

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows a mixed bag of change for Iowa. On one hand, nearly 5% less of the state is now abnormally dry, nearly 3% less land is severely dry, and more than 2% is no longer suffering any drought conditions at all. On the other hand, 5% more of the state now falls into the moderate drought distinction. Marion, Mahaska, and most of Jasper county remains in the severe category, while a sliver of north central Jasper has improved to the moderate level.
