Brandon Brown, attorney for Troy N. Rider, Knoxville PE Teacher and head football coach, has filed a motion in Marion County District Court, prohibiting extrajudicial comment from law enforcement and any other potential witnesses. The motion states the release of information to the media “unquestionably impairs Mr. Rider’s ability to obtain a fair and impartial trial not only in Marion County but also any county within the scope of media coverage for the sources reporting this story.” Earlier this month, Rider was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee, and was subsequently released from the Marion County Jail on $5000 bond, and court records have been sealed in the case.

At Monday night’s school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack announced that Rider has resigned from the school effective the first of April.
