The Central men’s basketball team’s incredible run has taken them about six hours northeast to Wisconsin for the NCAA Division III national tournament. Tonight, the Dutch take on St. Olaf of Minnesota in the first round of the 62-team tourney. Coach Craig Douma says that the Oles are a tough defensive team and really grind out possessions when they have the ball. The Oles are second in the country in scoring defense, allowing less than 58 points per game on average. They also take good care of the ball, ranking fifth in the country in turnover margin, forcing six more turnovers per game than they commit themselves. Douma says that their focus over the last few days has been on getting refreshed and prepared for a “new season.” You can hear tonight’s first round NCAA Division III tournament contest live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA and streamed live on KNIAKRLS.com with Cory Houser on the call.
