As December was winding to a close, the Pella Christian girls’ basketball team was still struggling to find their identity and tallies in the win column. They ended 2013 with two losses to Newton and Unity Christian and were 4 – 5 heading into the Christmas vacation break. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says that it was a difficult start to the season because they had a few tough stretches with not much time to work on anything away from game situations. Van Maanen adds that his team was able to work on some of the things during practice over break that they had been struggling with over the first part of the season, which helped them relax a bit and stay competitive in a tough Little Hawkeye Conference.
