A year ago, 99.9% of Iowa was suffering from conditions ranging from abnormally dry to exceptional drought, but now, more than 94% of the state is suffering no worse than moderate drought conditions. Marion, Jasper, and the western half of Mahaska County fall into the moderate drought category, while the eastern half of Mahaska County is one of the few places in Iowa still suffering severe drought conditions.
