Both the Central baseball and softball teams have landed in Arizona and are playing some stiff competition for their spring break trip starting today in Tuscon. The Dutch women haven’t played a game yet this year, but have steadily climbed the polls, and are currently at fourth in the nation for Division III. Central’s softball squad will play Dickinson of Pennsylvania and Baldwin-Wallace of Ohio at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., respectively, Pacific Daylight Time. The Dutch men are coming off of a 1 – 2 stand against Grinnell College last weekend, but their bats woke up towards the end of the weekend. One of them, Robbie Rushing, was named to the Team of the Week for his impressive showing at the plate during the series. The senior hit .615 with eight hits, two doubles and a pair of homers with six RBI’s. Coach Adam Stevens says it’s still early on in the season, so he’s focused on seeing his guys go out there and execute. Central’s men will play Dordt and Bethany Lutheran at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, respectively. You can hear the Central softball team play on Saturday, Sunday and Monday on exclusively. Trevor Castle will have the call.
