With four cogs to the Pella Christian boys’ basketball “machine” departing with graduation this spring, Coach Larry Hessing and the Eagles lose more than just talent, they lose strong leadership, too. Four twelfth-graders won’t be suiting up in an Eagles’ jersey next season and all of them brought talent and, of course, leadership to the court. Though all four of them did show that guidance on and off the court, Hessing singled out one senior that did the best job of it.
“I think Jared (Van Wyk) really did a good job of trying to do that, and I thought he did a really good job as the season progressed,” Hessing said. “Your seniors are your leaders, whether they’re captains or not captains, they are the leaders in the locker room, and they’re the leaders in how practice goes. Those guys have been involved in the program for four years so we appreciate all of their hard work and their investment into the program.”
Pella Christian’s boys finished their season 10 – 14.
