The Iowa State Patrol wants to remind drivers to be more aware of their surroundings as the weather warms up. People are out jogging, riding bikes and motorcycles are out, sometimes before the sun is up, and after it sets. Trooper Doug Cutts says drivers need to slow down and look ahead, scanning the roadway; and joggers and bikers should wear light colored or reflective clothing. Trooper Cutts says motorists need to put their cell phones down, and focus on driving, and above all, always wear your seatbelt. He says anyone under 18 must be buckled up, anywhere in the vehicle.
