Even with a good number of 4A schools in attendance, the Pella High boys’ and girls’ track teams were up to the challenge and performed quite well at Central College’s indoor high school track meet on Friday and Saturday. The boys performed on Friday; Jordan Pingel came up with wins in the 400 and 800, the 4 x 800 meter relay team picked up first place, Cody DeKruyff was third place and Garrett Jansen was fifth in the shot put. Over on the girls’ side, Coach Dak Rasmussen’s gals made some noise against stiff competition. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Makenna Bogaard, Jessica Holterhaus, Corin McKinstrey and Mackenzie Gustfason was first place out of 60 teams, the 4 x 400 team also came in first thanks to a terrific anchor leg by Gustafson to catch Waukee who was leading for almost the entire race. Becky Visser also tied for third in the high jump. Full results for the girls can be found below.
