Monday is St. Patrick’s Day, and The Marion County Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to be safe and responsible when celebrating. Sheriff Jason Sandholt says Iowa law enforcement will be out in force looking for traffic violators as part of the special Traffic Enforcement Program – or sTEP, through a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. Some tips that law enforcement offer are to plan a safe way home before the festivities begin; designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home, and if you know someone is about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get home safely.
