Greg Heartsill

Representative Greg Heartsill spoke with KNIA KRLS News recently, and says the bill calling for tougher penalties on kidnappers is still alive in the legislature. He says the one key component of the legislation – the provision that says any person who kidnaps a child under the age of 17 must serve their entire sentence with no option for release for good behavior – was stripped from the bill by the Senate this week, but he says his committee is standing firm, and they added it back in and sent it back to the Senate. He says at this point he believes it will make it through, with that component intact.
