A team that made it all the way to the Class 1A substate final, the Pleasantville boys’ basketball team did not have many shortcomings this season. They shot 46% from the field, averaged over 30 rebounds per game as a team, and came up with nearly four blocks and eight steals each contest, too. The one stat that stands out the most to Coach Tom Wilkins was the amount of turnovers. They averaged less than 11 per game, a number Wilkins says is quite surprising because of their style of play this season. The Trojans’ coach adds that one thing he says he wished was better this year was the team’s defense. Wilkins says he watched several games at the state tournament this week and was impressed by the level of defense each team possessed which stood them out from the rest of the pack. Pleasantville finished with a 20 – 5 overall record.
