Two Little Hawkeye Conference powerhouses clash on the soccer pitch this evening when Pella High and Dallas Center-Grimes collide for a pair of boys’ and girls’ league matches. On the girls’ side, it will be a rematch from last year’s season finale and state tournament first round game, both of which went the Lady Dutch’s way. Each game was a 2 – 1 final, with the first of the two matches going to overtime and penalty kicks. The Lady Dutch are 3 – 0 entering play tonight while the Fillies have played just one game, a 2 – 0 win over Gilbert. On the boys’ side, Pella faced stiff competition in tournament play on Saturday and came away with a win in three contests to move their record to 4 – 2, while the Mustangs are 3 – 1 having lost to West Des Moines Valley 1 – 0 in tournament play, also on Saturday. The girls’ will play in Pella while the boys are in Grimes, with varsity contests scheduled for around seven.
