It was a rough night for Central baseball yesterday. The Dutch were swept for the second straight day by Buena Vista in a pair of one-run games, 7 – 6 and 6 – 5. Central had to fight from behind in game one but came up short. The Dutch had a 5 – 4 lead in game two, before two runs in the eighth crossed the plate for the Beavers. Grant Seuferer was a tough out for the Dutch, going 4-for-7 at the plate. With the losses, Central falls to 11 – 10 overall and 3 – 7 in conference play. Meanwhile, up in Decorah, the Central softball team is riding an 11-game winning streak, and their coach is a win away from a big milestone. The Dutch will have to go through the number-five ranked Luther College to continue their torrid run and get their skipper to a nice round number. Coach Wares hopes that his players aren’t focused on win number 1,000, but rather taking care of business against a very good opponent. Both the Central baseball and softball contests today can be heard live on Central baseball will be on the KRLS2 stream with Cory Houser on the call starting at around 3:30 p.m. Central softball can be heard on KNIA2 with Trevor Castle starting at around 3:00 p.m.
