The Central baseball team’s offense did their job and the pitching did the rest, as the Dutch were able to bounce back from a tough opening series to sweep a pair of games from Simpson last night. Central won game one, 8 – 4; Robbie Rushing pitched a complete game, going seven innings and giving up just three earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Rushing helped himself out at the plate, going 2-for-3 and driving in two runs. Adam Ariola and Zach Brown each had a pair of RBI’s as well. Matt Schissel came into the nightcap and scattered six hits over nine innings and allowed just one run to help lead the charge in an 8 – 1 Dutch victory. Central took advantage of an all-around sloppy game by Simpson; the Storm committed a whopping seven errors in the contest. Central improves to 11 – 6 overall and even up their record in the conference to 3 – 3. The Dutch are next in action on Friday against Buena Vista.
