Two close contests on the pitch went Pella’s way over Dallas Center – Grimes in Tuesday’s soccer action within the Little Hawkeye Conference. There wasn’t as much drama as last year’s season finale that went to penalty kicks, but the Lady Dutch still ended up with the same result: a 1 – 0 victory over the Fillies. Mallory Lynch connected for a goal eight minutes into the second half that proved to be the game-winner. Her goal was one of only three shots on goal Pella put on-goal in the contest, while D-C-G had four. Coach Mark Howard tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the four shots on goal by the Fillies weren’t the “most difficult to stop” by his goaltender. The Pella boys won by the same score, but their game went a little bit longer. It took a conversion on a corner kick by Christian Hamilton with four minutes left in double overtime to put the Little Dutch over the top. Pella’s boys are now 4 – 2 overall, while the girls are 4 – 0, and have not allowed a goal so far this season. The boys are off until Tuesday when they host Grinnell, and the ladies will play at home versus Bondurant-Farrar on Saturday.
