All they needed was a few days off. After playing back-to-back road doubleheaders in Decorah and Storm Lake, the Central softball team used the two days off to recharge their batteries and come back to sweep Loras at home on Saturday. Central won 8 – 0 and 10 – 2 in the two conference contests. In the first game, Mallory Schulenberg was flat out stingy on the mound, giving up just one hit in four-and-two-thirds of an inning to earn her tenth win of the year. Katie Canney went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. In the nightcap, Trisha Smith was just as stingy, giving up two runs on just two hits in the Dutch’s second victory of the day. Central is now 26 – 6 on the year and 6 – 2 in league play. The Dutch are off for about a week when they host Simpson on Saturday.
