Shortly after 11:30 am yesterday a collision on eastbound 163, about 7 miles east of Pella, turned into a rollover when a semi rear ended a car. Trevor Wells, accident investigator for the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office tells KNIA/KRLS News that the accident occurred when the driver of the compact turned onto eastbound 163 and was struck by the semi within a mile of entering the highway. The car ended up in the south ditch, while the semi entered the median on the north side of the lane and rolled several times before coming to rest on it’s side. The driver of the car was then transported to Pella Regional with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, and the driver of the semi was also checked out, and found to have no apparent injuries. Wells says that no citations have yet been issued, and the accident is still under investigation.
